The launch of the earliest artificial satellites and orbital probes marked the beginning of the Space Age, proving that human-made craft could overcome Earth's gravitational pull, navigate low Earth orbit, and transmit scientific telemetry across space. These pioneering missions laid the essential technological foundation for crewed spaceflight, satellite telecommunications, and planetary exploration. To honor these historic achievements in aerospace science and pay tribute to early spacefarers, the postal administration of the Yemen Arab Republic (الجمهورية العربية اليمنية) issued a commemorative release entitled "Honouring Astronauts" (تكريماً لرجال الفضاء), capturing an early orbital probe maneuvering in outer space above Earth's atmosphere.
