Issued in the 1960s as part of the Famous Physicians and Medical Pioneers series of the Yemen Arab Republic (Y.A.R.), this stamp commemorates Galen (129–c.199 AD), the renowned Greek physician, surgeon, and philosopher who practiced in the Roman Empire. Galen became one of the most influential medical figures of antiquity, producing extensive writings on anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical treatment.
