Following the establishment of the Yemen Arab Republic in 1962, the new government initiated state-led industrialization programs to modernize the economy, process domestic cotton, and reduce reliance on imported textiles. A major milestone in this economic strategy was the construction and opening of the textile complex in Bajil (Al Hudaydah Governorate), which served as a flagship industrial project for domestic manufacturing.

Issued in 1964 by the Yemen Arab Republic (YAR / الجمهورية العربية اليمنية), this postage stamp commemorates the Inauguration of Bajil Spinning and Weaving Factory (افتتاح مصنع الغزل والنسيج بباجل). The design features industrial smokestacks and factory buildings in the foreground, symbolic spools of thread, a shuttle, and woven fabric above, marking the country's mid-century economic development.
