Fight against Malaria - 6 buqsha
This stamp was issued in 1962 by the Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen (المملكة المتوكلية اليمنية) as part of the landmark worldwide campaign "The World United Against Malaria" (العالم يتكتل لاستئصال الملاريا). The design features the global emblem adopted for the initiative, combining an Anopheles mosquito the primary vector for malaria underneath the Rod of Asclepius and a stylized globe.
The issue commemorated the Global Malaria Eradication Programme launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in partnership with the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Over 90 nations participated in this coordinated philatelic drive throughout 1962, issuing dedicated stamps to educate the public on vector control and raise funds to combat mosquito-borne malaria worldwide.
